Identitas Orang Bakumpai: Dayak Dan Muslim

ITulisan ini membahas tentang identitas orang Bakumpai dan kaitannya sebagai bagian dari suku-bangsa Dayak serta pilihan agama mayoritas orang Bakumpai, yakni Islam. Boleh jadi anggapan bahwa suatu bangsa tertentu identik dengan agama tertentu pula, sehingga menimbulkan pandangan jika berbeda agama maka berbeda pula suku bangsa. Pandangan seperti ini jika dibiarkan berkembang dapat mengakibatkan munculnya jarak sesama suku-bangsa Dayak. Lambat laun memunculkan pengelompokkan, watak komunalitas "buhan awen" (kelompok mereka) bukan lagi "uluh itah" (orang kita). Oleh karena itu, penulis mencoba menguraikan dua hal. Pertama, orang Bakumpai adalah orang Dayak dengan mengajukan berbagai alasan, baik dari pendapat tokoh, mitos, kekerabatan maupun testimoni orang Bakumpai. Kedua, pilihan agama orang Bakumpai tidak menjadi persoalan identitas suku bangsa sebagai bagian dari Dayak.
